Tribute Balloon is now live in the iTunes App Store and the Android Market!
We had previously written about our adventures with AppMakr. Since then, AppMakr has introduced Socialize, a social layer on top of the app to allow people to write comments, give hearts and share content from the app.  This has worked out well for the Tribute Balloon app, and the heart icons fit in well with the theme of the app.
Some notes:
The comments and hearts on Socialize can only be seen within the iPhone app.  It would be nice to have an API to pull this content out… or better yet, to integrate this with Facebook comments/likes somehow.
The approval process by Apple was straightforward and took about 1 week.
After completing the iPhone app, we were able to use the same HTML/CSS (with a few minor tweaks) to create the Android version.  Publishing to the Android Market took a few minutes (!) since there is no review process.
The previous bugs with content not refreshing and missing image thumbnails have been resolved by AppMakr.
